Kalyn's Kitchen Picks: My Favorite Feta Cheese

Kalyn's Kitchen Picks is where I tell you about food products I fall in love with, and this particular Feta cheese is a food item I've been seeing exclusively for a long time. I love Feta cheese in general, but this French sheeps milk Feta is my hands-down favorite. Of course, I buy it at my beloved Costco, where this large block sells for $4.99 USD in Utah. (Can you see why I adore Costco.)

If you're not familiar with Feta, Wikipedia has a good description of this type of Greek cheese. Of course, it's an essential ingredient in Greek Salad, one of my all-time favorite dishes. Admittedly, I might not be able to use up such a huge block of Feta if I didn't have the FoodSaver, which vaccuum packs the cheese so it will stay good in the fridge for months and months. Of course, at my house it will never last that long.

One of the latest things I've loved lately with Feta is this Green Bean Salad with Hearts of Palm, Olives, Red Pepper, and Feta. I'm also a long time fan of American Greek Salad, which is simply Greek Salad with lettuce. Truly, there's no end to the good tasting things you can make with Feta.

I'll need to try this because Presidente makes the most delish butter so I'm sure they'd do a great job with cheese.

Kalyn, I'll look for this at my Massachusetts Costco tomorrow -- what a find!

Wish we had Costco -- have I mentioned that before? :) I am usually a goat's milk feta fan but I will keep an eye out for this one.

I love Feta! That's a good line up of recipes, I am going to work my way through all the veggie ones! You are lucky having Costco, I don't think we have anything similar! The only thing I buy in bulk is my parmesan (my fridge is only little).

Mooncrazy, I think their Feta is fantastic. I used to buy a very expensive brand from an Italian deli, but this is just as good if not better.

Lydia, it's great. I'd be curious to know if it's more expensive there. I think food is pretty cheap in Utah.

Christine, I always thought goat's milk Feta was best too, until I tried this one.

Holler, no Costco in Scotland? I thought they were worldwide, but maybe not. I know some people are turned off by their large sizes of everything, but I love Costco!

I love feta. There's no Costco near me, unfortunately. Never been there before. :-(

Oh Paz, that's just plain sad. Costco is amazing, if you can get past the obvious consumerism culture that it sprang out of. I buy so many food products there. (Ok, I guess that's something people have already noticed.)

I love feta cheese too, it adds an extra kick to almost any savory dish. I've never tried this brand though, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it!

Thanks for the mention Kalyn. I love Feta too. At this time of the year I'm sprinkling it on brown mushrooms a drizzle of oil and a few herbs and baking for 20 minutes.kxscb
