A South Beach Diet Friendly Dessert for Your Valentine's Day Dinner

Valentine's Day is coming, second only to Christmas on the list of days it's hard to be watching your sugar intake. Although I'm not really a big dessert eater, I know that for a lot of you who are making a special dinner, dessert is a must. If your Valentine is a South Beach Dieter, or just someone who needs to watch their sugar intake, here are a few dessert ideas from the recipe archives that might be a hit. Pictured above is Peach and Berry Cobbler. Next time I made this I would use all peaches or all berries, but it was very tasty. If the thought of a cobbler with a whole wheat biscuit crust doesn't do it for you, here are some other desserts I have enjoyed when I needed a little sweetness in my life.

One of the first desserts I made without flour or sugar was Low Carb Snickerdoodles, made with almond meal and Splenda.

A reader sent me this recipe for Low Carb Cookies with Meringue and Pecans.

I created two versions of Low Carb Cheesecake for a blog event, and this was my favorite, Fantastic Cheesecake with Cherry Topping.

I have a friend who's very fond of this version, Low Carb No-Bake Cherry Cheesecake.

Reminders:
This week the host for Weekend Herb Blogging will be The Chocolate Lady from In Mol Araan. Send your entries to inmolaraan AT gmail DOT com. You can read The Rules for Weekend Herb Blogging if you don't know what it's about.

I made the no-bake cheesecake over the weekend and it was great! My boyfriend, who is not doing South Beach with me, thought it tasted wonderful. It was very easy to make with a few frozen strawberries to top it off. I did increase the amount of Splenda since I like my sweets very sweet. Great recipe.

Berries and peaches together....that even beats out chocolate....sometimes!

Gattina, they were delicious. There's a lot of butter, so it's a "once in a while" thing for South Beach, but the butter makes it delicious.

Angela M, thanks for the feedback. I love hearing from people who've actually tried the recipes.

Katie, the cobbler was really good, but possibly not better than chocolate!

It's funny actually, because I don't eat a lot of dessert. But I adore fruit cobbler and Snickerdoodles. Peaches and berries are a perfect pair. And Snickerdoodles with almond paste--mmmm delicious!

Anonymous, I think I screwed up and forgot to make it a link, thank you for letting me know! If you ever want to check to see if I have a recipe posted, you can enter it in the search box (upper left) and hit search and it should come up if I have that recipe.

I was just thinking a month or so ago about how its not often to see a desert on your blog. I'm certainly not complaining as you NEVER disappoint with all the wonderful recipes you do post but I'm excited to see these sweet treats!

I love peaches and strawberries, but Kalyn, those meringues look simply marvelous!

I'm not sure if it's South Beach Diet friendly (I think it might be), but I just blogged about a light and easy aphrodisiac infused Valentines Day picnic at home here, should you be interested.

Happy Valentines Day!!
