Hi!
I am a University of California trained medical ethnobotanist. When I did my Ph.D. field research for two years among the Yucatec Maya I saw they used purslane. Because I was focusing on a particular subset of their medical plant uses I never learned about how they prepared it for regular meals.
If you have a source for Purslane oleracae which I might buy here in the U. S. I'd love to know and address for the source so that I might try using it meals.
I would prefer that you not give my e-mail address to others. I am busy enough.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Dawn C. Hammond
Ph.D. Candidate
Dawn, the only place I've gotten purslane is from my garden; I've never seen it for sale, although I've heard it's sold as a salad green in Europe. Sorry I can't help you.
Hi Kalyn:
I just found your site and am so encouraged. My husband and I will start phase 1 tomorrow. We both really want to live a healthier lifestyle and end the diet ups and downs...your recipes will certainly help...
Have you ever used the liquid stevia as a sweetner in any of your recipes...I try to stay away from the other artificial sweetners.
Thanks and keep it up,
Kim
Kim, good luck on phase one. Truly I don't think it's that hard to find tasty things to eat, you just have to make a mental shift. I haven't used liquid stevia, but I've heard good things about it. I am a huge fan of Agave nectar though, although it's not for phase one. I think it's delicious and pretty widely available. I don't use a lot of Splenda, but do use it once in a while in small amounts.
